Writing Business Articles? Follow These 5 Steps To Business Writing Success

  • Posted on April 26, 2010 at 12:50 pm

Business articles are a great way to let readers searching the Internet know everything about your new or existing company, and what you can offer them in your unique products and services.

You may be a company that only does business on the Internet, or a Brick & Mortar retail store that would like to increase their online presence via your web site to create additional exposure locally, nationally, or worldwide, and start increasing your customer base.

No matter what type of business approach you take, you will realize that finding a variety of marketing avenues to reach new potential customers is one of the most important components for the growth of your new or well-established business.

When you finally decided to test the waters in article writing because you wanted to add it to your overall marketing plan, I’m sure you will quickly realize that this is a very powerful, yet cost effective way to reach enormous amounts of targeted traffic!

However, in order to reach your desired traffic online, you must not only create value added, informative and creative articles, but you must place them on the Internet for people to find and read. If you’re not sure where to start, you can use my 5 simple article-writing steps as a guideline, and create your own writing style and article distribution plan that will work best for you:

Tip #1: Have a complete understanding of the business you’re in, the product and services you offer, and don’t over sell and underachieve your readers!

I’m surprised how many times I read an article where some company is telling me they will offer you the world, and when you visit their web site, it looks like they actually do offer you the world, a lot of dirt, and the some of that smelly stuff.

Example: Company XYZ expresses that they’re #1 in customer service online, and when you provide a link to your site for your readers to view your claim that you wrote in your article, the reader navigates your site, and quickly they notice you have no access to a live customer service chat service, any toll-free numbers to reach a customers service specialist, and all you’re providing them is an email address saying that you may get back to them sometime after the summer beach season is over. If you don’t offer the best customer service on the Internet or planet, don’t even think for a minute to convey that message to your readers.

Tip #2: Don’t get business article writing mixed up with a press release!

Writing press releases are a good way to get the message out that your company offers a unique and exclusive product in the market, and you want to introduce it with a bang, or that your business just hired a top executive that will drive your company shares straight up in the stock market. Writing your business article is slightly different, you want to use your article to express your company’s best features and benefits offered.

Write about how you can save time and money, or give them a better lifestyle, how about your products/services offer customers that give them complete “Peace-of-Mind”. Believe it or not, people do searches to find your products and services to either solve a problem, or possibly to fill a desired need they have. You have to tell them how you’re going to solve their problems, and fill their needs, and put it in writing.

Tip #3: Find out who your readers are, and write your article in their language!

Nothing is worse than when I come across an interesting article, and I find out halfway through, there is a completely different language that I don’t understand. There are many business writers that have a technical writing background, and when they communicate their message in the article, readers may stumble on your article that is saturated in technical mumbo jumbo that only tech savvy individuals understand.

When you start preparing to write you article, think about your people you want to reach, and who will be interested in reading your information, because if you’re writing for the non-technical person, and you put a ton of information that the average individual won’t understand, your message will definitely be lost and your readers you’re trying to attract will move on and find another article that is easier to read.

Tip #4 Once you have written the perfect article, now you want to know how to reach your targeted readers!

You wrote the perfect article, and it is jam packed with your features and benefits. You’re telling your potential readers how to reach you, but they won’t be able to reach you if you don’t take the steps to get your article out there on the web.

The best way to get your company article distributed is through ezine and article distribution directories. You may decide to only submit your articles to a select few of the top article directories that offer a high volume of traffic, but I would suggest that you consider also submitting to a variety of smaller ones, because you never know where they will be picked up from and prominently placed for inbound traffic.

One of the biggest changes happening with article directories is that you will find more niche targeted business content distribution sites that focus on your related themes. Highly consider these sites, because they not only offer you more category options, these sites will eventually be classified as an authority site on your specific business topics.

Tip #5Your Author Bio can make or break the goal of your article!

Believe it or not, but your Author Bio is probably the most important piece to your article puzzle! You worked very hard on your article, and you took the time to make sure your message was clear and to the point, but what I find with many well-written pieces is that they end with a very weak author bio. It’s like winning your customer over with a knockout presentation, and then not asking for the sale.

The same goes with your Bio, you should not over sell, but you definitely should let your readers know you’re the expert, and that everything you talked about in your article will be explained in more detail once they click through your hyperlinks. If you’re talking about a specific product or service and you have several pages with more information, normally most directories will allow you to place up to a maximum of three links including your main index page. Take advantage of this, and always maximize your links that will give you many optimizing opportunities.

These tips are pretty straightforward, and most of you would consider them to be common sense, but even the best article writers sometimes get off track, and may forget some of the fundamentals of writing. It’s always good to get some outside tips to get you right back on track. Take my advice and use it as a tool to help you design your own writing style, and before you know it, your article will be flooding the Internet with business flair!

First Step for Business Expansion

A true businessman is one who believes in constant growth. Every business must be affluent enough to cater to its financial needs. As a good businessman you must be keeping an eye on your cash reserves and cash flow. There are times when you want to start some new business plan or need some finance for an overseas project. Most of the times, the main problem coming between you and your ambition is of adequate finance.

Commercial loans may help you in jumping this hurdle. Commercial loans help you by arranging funds so that you may not loose big business opportunity only due to the lack of funds.

You can acquire both secured and unsecured commercial loans depending on the situation. You must decide before applying for commercial loans, which kind of loan your business firm would be able to get comfortably. If there is no property in the name of your firm then you have to opt for an unsecured commercial loan. These loans never require any kind of security. They may offer you fund up to £25,000. You must take great care before opting for these loans. Make sure you check the interest rates because sometimes the interest rates with unsecured loans may be high, which can increase your liability. Businessmen who are confident enough for debt repayment go for the unsecured commercial loan. They have the fund they need and that too without risking any asset.

The more comfortable option for having a commercial business loan is to opt for a secured commercial loan. Financial institutions feel less risk in providing these loans. They acquire any of your assets as security and then sanction the loan. Usually these loans take less time in approval. One benefit with these loans is that you can raise a large amount of money. The loan amount can go up to £250,000. You are required to submit a business report with all your previous business details. You must mention your past credit history. The bank would show interest in your future plans so craft the project report with nicely described plan.

To give an excellent launch to your business plan a well planned commercial business loan is always advantageous. Various online loan opportunities are present now. You can compare different factors related to your commercial loan, such as the interest rates, repayment periods etc. Online loan applications are secure and convenient also.

Starting a Internet Business Step by Step Instructions

  • Posted on April 18, 2010 at 11:14 am

The main means to earn money on the internet is by selling something. You can either sell your own product if you have one, or someone else’s product for a commission.   Chances are, that if you are in the beginning stages of starting a internet business, you most likely do not have a product of your own. So what we are going to do, is show you how to sell other peoples products.   For starters you are going to need a product to sell. To do this you can open a free account with Click Bank. There you will find thousands of products to market. I would recommend that you read their getting started section to acquaint yourself with how the system works.   Then the next step is to open an account with Google Adwords. You will need to have a credit card to create your account. Without Adwords you will not be able to get anywhere so the minimal setup costs are well worth it. You will need this account to advertise the products your are selling as well as Keyword Research.   When your Adwords account is set up. Do a bit of reading to get the feel of how the system works. But here are the basics. The Adwords system is keyword driver. You bid for the keywords you want to use for your ad. In other words. Let say someone does a search for widgets. If you have placed your ad and used widgets as one of your keywords. The chances are pretty good that you ad will be seen. However the popularity of the keyword will determine the bid amount to get the ad on page one of Google.   Now for the product. Go to the market place in Click Bank and have a look at the various categories available. You can choose any product but what is important is the commissions offered and the conversion rates. Select 5 to 10 products with good conversion rates and that pay a commission of at least $20. 00. For a lesser commission, it may just not be worth the effort, unless there is a very high conversion rate.   Once this is done, you need to do some research to find out if the product may be profitable. To do this you will use the Google Adwords keyword Tool. Enter the exact title of the chosen product and do a keyword search for all the keywords related to you product.   Go through all the related keywords. What you are looking for are keywords that have more then a 1000 searches per month. And that do not have too much competition. Bare in mind that the higher the competition, the higher the minimum bid needs to be to get you ad on page one of Google. The estimated required bid will give you an idea if the keyword is usable or not.   As an example, let’s say someone wants to find out how to prune roses. To do this they would enter the keyword “how to prune roses. ” Now if this is the keyword phrase you are using for your product. The chances are very good that they will click on your ad to find out more. Now let’s say that from 100 clicks you make one sale. This would mean that on a minimum bid of . 10c, you would make 100% profit on just one sale. More then one sale would be clear profit.   You may think at this point that this will not make much money. But think about it. 20 to 30 products marketed in the same way, each with a profit of $200. 00 plus per month. Not bad for starters.   Enough said. From the keyword list as explained above. You need to find 5 or 6 keywords that describe the product you are selling. Ad these to your keyword list. Remember. The title of the product is the main keyword. You also do not need 1000′s of keywords. A select few with low minimum bids will fit the bill perfectly.   Now for the ad. If “How to knit Gloves” for example is the product, then that would be my title. Simple. For the body of the ad, have a look at the competition ads for your keyword. Use the top ones and change them slightly so that your ad is the same but slightly different.   Job done. Run the ad. A word of warning though. In the world of Google Adwords. If you do not carefully monitor your expenses against profits. It could become a very expensive exercise. What you also need to know is which of your keywords are making you money and which are not. If this is done properly. Then starting a internet business could be a very pleasant experience.

Inheriting a Business: Stepping Into Dad?s Shoes

  • Posted on April 13, 2010 at 9:15 pm

Most small businesses start out as a family business and are passed on from one generation to another. Starting your own business allows you to set your own terms at work; inheriting one, more often than not, comes with its own baggage. How does one deal with implementing change at the workplace, especially when the ex-boss was someone dear to you?

Inheriting a business can put a great deal of pressure on a newcomer; expectations are high, the standards to be lived up to are higher. But the real challenge comes when change needs to be effected, a lot of which might not go down well with a team all too comfortable with the existing way of doing things.

Think before you leap: To most parents who own a business, children are the obvious choice for handing over the reins, irrespective of whether the offspring would like to be endowed with the responsibility or not. This is the crucial first step to succeeding in an inherited business. Do some soul searching to find out if you are interested in taking up the new responsibility. Evaluate whether the business is built on values, ideas and principles you agree with, and discuss it with those concerned. Introducing changes in the management style at work will become much simpler once you have a clear idea of what you would like to keep untouched.

The makeover: Be it a new management technique that is doing the rounds in entrepreneurial society, or a new technology that promises to improve efficiency manifold, new ideas are bound to come in with a younger generation. It is another matter, of course, to convince everyone that these changes are good for the business. Study the scene at work and prepare a list of things you would like to change. Next, consult your family members, especially the ones who founded the business. You can expect resistance, but reiterate why you think transformation is crucial for the business.

Challenges at work: Managing staff, used to a distinctively different management style, is yet another challenge. Those acquainted with the nuances of inheriting a business will tell you that first and foremost, you need to build faith and confidence among the employees. Let the staff know of your plans and address any doubts they may have. Yet, be prepared for the fact that some will never accept your capabilities. Do not waste time trying to convince everybody about your skills, any more than you need to. Unfounded skepticism will melt when the results begin to show.

Dividing the work: In a bid to outdo each other, many managers might want to take on more than their share of responsibilities. A successful leader divides the workload fairly among the employees. Do this strictly on the basis of their merit and competence. Over a period of time, they will adapt to your style and respond to your leadership. Making your people a part of the transformation you desire is the best way to win their support.

Inheriting a business could also mean that you have to deal with more family members at work. Take a look at our article on Family Business to learn more about facing challenges of a different kind head on. “Crisp: Managing the Family Business” by Marshall Northington, can help you with some management techniques. “Sustaining the Family Business” by Marshall B. Paisner, is yet another useful resource.

Stepping into a parent’s shoes can be especially difficult when your sizes don’t match. Many women opine that inheriting a business becomes particularly difficult for daughters as they have to combat chauvinism over and above everything else. Remember, these are momentary difficulties and the only way to silence the critics is to put up a great show!

Finding a market where people are spending money is the key and you then tie your passion or interest into that market. There are numerous ways to choose a profitable market. 10 Step Internet Business

  • Posted on April 6, 2010 at 9:49 pm

OK, you want to build a solid profitable internet business you can run from home or anywhere you choose. It is totally do-able and you can do it. If you are sitting there thinking I am just not getting it, stop right now. You will get it and it is easier than you think.
These 10 steps work for any product or service you want to market. The basics are the basics and you have to master each one of them. Then you will put your creativity and personal touch into your business. Remember you are building a business, not a hobby. Businesses make money, hobbies cost money. To build an internet business that is solid, (profitable for the long term) you need the right tools. Whatever you do, do not cheap out and use free software. There is a reason it is free. Just remember what you paid for the free stuff, because that is probably what it is worth.
Now we know you may have purchased some plans or systems which we call a Business in a Box. Most do not work and the others allow you to pay to promote and market someone elses business. Yes almost every beginner/newbie has spent hundreds of dollars on the business in a box. We have all done it so cheer up. You are on the right track. Here is the bright side, its tax deductable at the end of the year.
So let us get to the 10 steps. These are the correct basics which every successful internet marketing business has done. Now each step has its own nuances and rules, but for right now you do not need to worry about that. You are going to take each one of these one step at a time. You will master them all and be in a business that can never fail, be out sourced, taken away from you, down sized or anything else.
There is a simple way to master each of these.
1. Market Niche: What are you going to market? It does not matter what you market, but you have to do your research first. Throw out the Guru advice of market what you love to do. What if your hobby is worm farming? I doubt you will get rich on that. Research your business first.
2. Select Your Product or Service: Research is done, know how to acquire the products or services. The reality is to start with other peoples products. It does not matter if they are digital or non digital, do not use your own at first.
3. Domain Name: Now pick your domain name. Make sure it relates to your niche or products. Do not confuse people. I know, what the heck is a Google and what the heck is a Yahoo. Good point, but they took a chance when they started. Those two examples overcame the confusion and out right snide remarks at first. Those products were timely and great. You can not take that chance
4. Website Building: You have to be able to build websites, period. Just remember you do not need to know HTML. Out sourcing, (someone else building your sites) will not work for two reasons. First, it is expensive. You will probably end up with 10 or more sites that need updating and monitoring. Now the big guys have in house webmasters to handle that, but the overhead would kill you right now. Second, outsourcing for building, updating and monitoring takes weeks for each. Forget about it.
5. Hosting: Pick your hosting company carefully. This is important, whatever you do, don’t choose a free one and do not use their website templates. Purchase plenty of data transfer and make sure they equip you with a full suite of statistics.
Remember, we show you the best tools in each of these categories.
6. SEO: Does anybody call this Search Engine Optimization any more. It is just SEO. This is very important. You flat out can not get ranked on any search engine without it. Well, you can but being on the 200th page of a search does not do much for you. SEO is evolving and you need professional help.
7. Auto Responder: No internet marketer even thinks about building a business without an auto responder. You need to look for unlimited lists, Email campaigns and all the statistics you can get for tracking. Use companies that specialize in what they do.
8. List Building: The money is in the list. Every visitor to your site can be turned into a paying customer. Even if they do not buy the first time you, can Email market back to them over and over again. They know who you are and the conversion rate goes up with each contact.
9. Organic Marketing: This is the best way to build your business. OK you probably have read about Adwords and PPC. Do not even think about these yet. Unless you have fine turned your sales system, sales copy and know your conversion rate, you will get into trouble. What kind of trouble? The worst kind, you will lose money.
10. Ecommerce: This part of the business use to be a pain in the but! Its not any more. Matter of fact it is probably the easiest part. The Ecommerce providers do everything for you. We’re talking customer shopping carts, full secure transaction handling. The best will take a small percentage of each transaction but its well worth it.
Well there you go the basics of any internet marketing business. You will need to master each one of them. I know some of the other guys in this business and believe me you are as smart as they are. The only reason they are making a good living at this and you are not is because they have mastered the basics. You can to.

Owning Your Own Business: Here are a Couple of Steps to Business Success

  • Posted on April 3, 2010 at 5:05 am

Maybe you are reading this and have been thinking about owning your own business. Or, you have a small business running either that is doing well or where you wish it could be more. Regardless, to have a successful small business and to have the freedom and abundance you seek, the first step to business success is it must be about you.
You may say, now wait a minute where is this heading? Over 30 years of self-employment and working with hundreds of self-employed individuals I can assure you that most successful small businesses and the ones that experience small business growth have one thing in common. The first step to business success is that they are built around the founder or owner.
At first you may think this is a selfish approach. But, if you look at the original definition of selfishness, it is about self-preservation. I think you would agree that building a business that preserves and enhances you is a huge plus. After all, without you, where is the business?
Now, this doesn’t mean that the business is all about you. It means that you either deliver and exceptional product or service for your customers but with an organization, routine or performance strategy that enhances you. After all, if you are not at your best, where will your business be?
For the entrepreneur successful in his business, the first step is to have something he or she is passionate about. The second step is to be able to build the business around who they are. Let’s take three attributes that all people have to different degrees. They are create, execute and finalize.
Most people are good at one or two of these. Know what you are good at and build your business around your strengths. For example, maybe you are strong at creating and finalizing the process. Yet, the execute part, which is in the middle, is not where you really enjoy spending your time. If you are spending most of your time in this area you and your business will be at peril. In the beginning you will probably have to do all three.
Yet, if you continue to do all three you and your business will not experience the small business growth you desire. Take a look at yourself. If executing is the least enjoyable aspect, either create systems to insure that the execution takes place or have someone help you with it. If it continues to be a challenge you can look at hiring a small business coach or reading a small business book or small business ebook.
To grow small business and to have a successful performance strategy you must be in alignment with who you are. Pursue your passion and build your small business growth plan around your strengths. When you do you will get off the treadmill of deadening uniformity and be moving to the success you desire.

Starting A Computer Business Step-By-Step

  • Posted on April 2, 2010 at 12:53 pm

When starting a computer business, most obsess over technology and certifications, and give relatively little thought to crucial business issues. Starting a computer business requires organization and careful planning. You need to make sure you have everything in order before you open for business. You also need to have a realistic plan for delivering end-to-end, complete IT solutions.   In a nutshell, you need to have all your contracts and agreements for clients and partners ready to go. This way, when you bring your very first client through the sales process, or build a relationship with your first partner, you know where you are going and exactly what you are doing. You have to know the steps of the sales cycle and be ready to approach your sales cycle consistently with each and every prospect, customer and client. And you need to know which benefits you will be offering that are going to set you apart from the competition.   The following 4 steps can help you get organized when starting a computer business. 1) Don’t Give Away Services for Free. As you’re starting a computer business, you need to learn how to take your prospects through the sales cycle, from free to fee.  Barring some extraordinary circumstances, you should not spend several non-billable hours on just an initial proposal. A typical sales proposal has no value-added uniqueness and will make your company look like a commodity broker. And when your services are seen as a commodity, you will primarily attract extremely price-sensitive buyers that will be hunting for the lowest bottom line, and not necessarily the best value or greatest potential return on investment. 2) Position Your Computer Business as an Outsourced IT Department. Think of the five or six different functions that small businesses need when you’re starting a computer business: needs analysis; project management; training; desktop roll-outs; notebook fixes; server issues; etc. Build your business around these important functions. Think of your company as a single point of contact for clients. Present your value proposition as an outsourced IT department responsible for fulfilling your clients’ on-going IT needs and solving big business problems with IT. 3) Include Annual Service Agreements in Your Business Model.
